Access to reliable and unrestricted scientific literature is pivotal for the progress and resilience of global research communities. PubMed, as the world’s largest bibliographic database in medicine and the life sciences, has been a cornerstone resource for researchers and practitioners internationally. Recent changes in U.S. policy priorities have raised questions about their potential impact on access to and quality assurance within PubMed. In response to this critical challenge, OLSPub is being developed as a robust, open-source alternative that promises to ensure continuous access to life sciences data for both researchers and the public.
